Peaceful protest against 4×4 vehicles driving on the river Meon

RMCV supported the peaceful protest mounted by the residents of Droxford, the Test and Itchen Association and Fish Legal, with around 150 people coming together to highlight the damage caused by 4×4 off-road vehicles driving down a 200m stretch of the River Meon, resulting in destruction of the precious chalk stream habitat.
We were joined by our local MP, county and district councillors, members of the South Downs National Park, and the press — including BBC South’s environmental correspondent.
The goal is to obtain a Traffic Restriction Order (TRO), highlighting the lack of action by Hampshire County Council (HCC) and South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) to close down the route to motorised transport.
We hope to see some action soon !
